Student Rules and Regs

We ask that you observe the following rules and regulations during your time with Illinois Leadership Seminars so that this seminar may be conducted as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Any participant who does not abide by these rules and regulations will be dismissed from further participation. Your parents will be notified immediately of this action, and they will be instructed to have you removed from the facility. Your school will be notified of your dismissal and their participation will be rejected for the following year.

 

 

1.      You must make a commitment to attend the entire event. If you have a scheduling problem, we strongly suggest offering the weekend to your school’s alternate. The seminar runs from Friday, June 11th, 2010 through Sunday, June 13th, 2010 at North Park University in Chicago. Check-in begins at 6:30 AM (and ends at 7:30 AM) on Friday, June 11th at North Park University. The Closing Ceremonies for seminar begin at 10:30 AM on Sunday, June 13th and will conclude at approximately 12:00 PM, with check-out to follow.

 

2.      You are expected to be on time for all seminar functions. You must attend all activities and meals.

 

3.      Nametags must be worn at all seminar functions.

 

4.      No outside guests are allowed in or around the seminar facility except for the closing ceremonies on Sunday.

 

5.      Participants are not allowed to leave the facilities of North Park University during the weekend. Leaders must stay with your assigned group during all seminar sessions. Gain permission from your group coach if you must leave a session and wait for an adult staff member to escort you.

 

6.      Group assignments are not to be changed for any reason, except by the seminar committee.

 

7.      Room visitation by members of the opposite sex is strictly prohibited.

 

8.      No smoking, no drinking of alcoholic beverages and no unauthorized drug use is permitted.

 

9.      Any leader who has a medical problem that requires special care, treatment, or medication is asked to inform his or her group coach.

 

10.  In case of emergency, notify your group coach or come directly to the Operations Room. There are chaperones and group coaches available 24-hours-a-day and they can be contacted at any time.

 

11.  Lock your room doors at all times, whether you are in it or not. Notify security on duty immediately if you need assistance.

 

12.  Use the “Buddy System” when moving throughout the facilities of North Park.

 

13.  Leaders are not permitted to use their cell phones during the seminar program. If leaders must carry a phone with them, it should be for emergency purposes only. Otherwise, all communication devices should remain locked in the leader’s room.

 

14.  Leaders are not allowed to make room changes. You must be in your assigned room at the announced curfew and must remain in such until the start of activities the next morning.

 

15.  You must observe the morning wake up calls.

 

16.  Respect the rights of other North Park occupants. Enter only those rooms and floors in which seminar-related activities are being held. Clean up after yourself. Keep noise to a minimum.

 

17.  ILS has a zero tolerance discrimination policy.
